The 9 Traits & A Successful Entrepreneur

INTRODUCTION

According to Investopedia (2015) entrepreneur is an individual who, rather than working as an employee, runs a small business and assumes all the risk and reward of a given business venture, idea, or good or service offered for sale. The entrepreneur is commonly seen as a business leader and innovator of new ideas and business processes. Entrepreneurs play a key role in any economy. These are the people who have the skills and initiative necessary to take good new ideas to market and make the right decisions to make the idea profitable. The reward for the risks taken is the potential economic profits the entrepreneur could earn.
In addition, entrepreneurs by definition make a difference. Their way of thinking is to confront received wisdom and find new ways of doing things. They do not take ‘no’ for an answer from themselves or from others. They see old problems in new ways and in turn re-imagine, innovate and disrupt (Alice Barnard, 2014). However, there is no such thing as a standard entrepreneur road-map to entrepreneurial success. Every entrepreneur is unique and every entrepreneur’s journey is different. Furthermore, entrepreneurs come from a variety of backgrounds. Some products of people, others more finance focused and it can be salespeople, programmers, or just people with a vision. However, the one thing that all great entrepreneurs have in common is a desire to change things for the better. They are innovators and because of this they have a huge impact on the world we live. Simon Burton founder of the Great British Entrepreneur Awards, said that entrepreneurs are the engine room of the economy and forge innovation, disrupt tired markets, and foster positive change.
Next, according to BussinessDictionary (2015) entrepreneurship is the capacity and willingness to develop, organize and manage a business venture along with any of its risks in order to make a profit. The most obvious example of entrepreneurship is the starting of new businesses. In economics, entrepreneurship combined with land, labour, natural resources and capital can produce profit. Entrepreneurial spirit is characterized by innovation and risk-taking, and is an essential part of a nation’s ability to succeed in an ever changing and increasingly competitive global marketplace.
In this case, Qualities or Personal Entrepreneurial Characteristics (PEC) of successful entrepreneurs refer to desired traits, which enable the entrepreneurs to do what is expected of them and succeed in business. It is the combination of these characteristics that is required to enable any one to perform effectively as an entrepreneur. In addition, the characteristics of entrepreneurs being numerous, a successful entrepreneur possesses a combination of traits that show both innovation and leadership qualities (Himansu S. 1.0       Integrity and reliability
Integrity is the quality of being honest and having strong moral principle and moral uprightness. It is generally a personal choice to uphold oneself to consistently moral and ethical standard. In ethic, integrity is regarded by many people as the honesty and truthfulness or accuracy of one’s actions. Integrity can stand in opposition to hypocrisy. In that judging with the standards of integrity involves regarding internal consistency as a virtue, and suggests that parties holding within themselves apparently conflicting values should account for the discrepancy or alter their beliefs (Wikipedia, 2015).
The word integrity envolved from the Latin adjective integer, meaning whole or complete. In this context, integrity is the inner sense of  “wholeness” deriving from qualities such as honesty and consistency of character. As such, one may judge that others “have integrity” to the extent that they act according to the values, beliefs and principles they claim to hold (Wikipedia, 2015).
A value system’s abstraction dept and range of applicable interaction may also function as significant factors in identifying integrity due to their congruence or lack of congruence with observation. A value system may evolve in a while. While retaining integrity if those whole espouse the values account  for and resolve inconsistencies. While meaning of reliability is the quality of being realible, dependable, or trustworthy. The quality of measurement indicating the degree to which the measure is consistent, that is repeated, measurements would give the same result (Wikipedia, 2015).
Example of entrepreneurs have its integrity and reliability is Shahril and Shahriman Shamsuddin. They are brothers who manage the company of gas and petroleum SapuraKencana. Their company has grow rapidly because they are a person of integrity in manage their company. This can be proved where Shahril has made a statement that the company be great because it does work correctly and with integrity (Tee Lin Say & Xiandria Ooi, 2013).
The company success is also due to relationships with other companies. SapuraKencana’s company made many relationships with other companies inside and outside the country. This is because many companies believe the ability of the company as a director very integrity.

2.0       Initiative
Initiative is all about taking charge. An initiative is the first in a series actions. Initiative can also means a personal quality that shows a willingness to get things done and take responsibility. Besides that, initiative is an invidual’s actions that begins a process, often done without direct managerial influence. For example, an employee might take the initiative to come up with a new product or service that the company could offer (Business Dictionary, 2015).
Examples entrepreneurs who has this trait is Datuk Aliff Syukri. He is a successful entrepreneur who is the founder of beauty product brand D’herb Beauty. He has taken various initiatives to ensure the success of its business. For example during initial start a business, he only vend these products from house to house, and from office to office only. After that, using his own capital had rented a stall for selling their products (Siti Nur Umirah Ideris, 2014).
After that, he take the initiative to expand her business by creating its own brand products and he has managed to market their products across the country when it has been doing various initiatives , including his once surrounded the country to introduce products. Because it is like taking various initiatives to forge ahead in his business but today he has managed to become a successful entrepreneur and famous at our country.

3.0       Versatility
Versatility is literally a God’s gift for a fortune human. It is obviously possessing the numerous of talents and abilities and able to perform and doing things competently. By having a contrastive skills and qualities, versatility helps people on how to adapt in different situations upon you. This trait is actually a bonus to mankind as it will helps them to have a productive life.
An entrepreneur that well qualified with the trait of versatility is Faiza Bawumi Sayed Ahmad. She gained a precious experience during worked as a cashier at her father’s store and that’s encourage her to be more concern and serious as a dealer in the business field. When she came to Malaysia in 1984 she did stitch embroidery, sold the various of kitchen items, and produced cury powder under the brand of Bunga Raya and distribute them in stores. By having her own shop, she began to learn to recognize the different types of rice. Until eventually Faiza Bawumi Sayed Ahmad managed to become a Managing Director Faiza Sdn. Bhd who is a successful and well known woman entrepreneur (Aneysa, 2011).

4.0       Decisive
According to Collin English Dictionary (2015) Decisive is like having a power or quality of deciding, putting an end to controversy, crucial or most important. The decisive trait is characterized or by or displaying no or little hesitation, resolute and determined. A leader of a business is typically the person charged with making organizational decisions or take quick action when called for can sometimes hurt your business more than making a miscalculated or bad decision. This can improve by decision-making capabilities by setting specific parameters for making important judgement calls.
A decisive person shows the ability to make decisions quickly but effectively. An Entrepreneur needs to be decisive to be a good leader. Uncertainty in any organization is a killer. When an Entrepreneur takes too long to make a decision - either due to lack of knowledge or fear of making the wrong one, it creates a period of anxiety in the employees. It is often better to learn to say "yes" or "no" more often than "maybe." Your employees will respect you for making quick decisions even though you might be wrong sometimes. Procrastination is not an admirable virtue for great leaders.
Being decisive does not mean being impulsive or basing decisions on your gut feel. You need to consider all pertinent facts in arriving at the decision, but do not over-analyze and delay unnecessarily. Entrepreneurs need to lead by example. Being decisive themselves will instill the same level of rapid response in the rest of the organization.
The example of entrepreneur that have this side of trait is Nikki Kaufman. She is the founder and CEO of Normal which is a company that creates made-to-order ear buds via 3D printing. Normal’s business model makes it easy for custom-headphone-loving shoppers. For $199, customers can download the Normal app, take photos of each of their ears, then send those photos to corporate headquarters. From there, Normal works its magic via 3D printing, then overnights each pair of specialized earphones. Customers usually receive their product within 48 hours of placing an order.
It is even simpler for local New York City shoppers. They can just bop into Normal’s physical location, place an order and watch their earphones being made right in front of them. Kaufman herself makes a point of walking the retail store floor an hour a day to observe customers and generate new ideas (Katie Morell, 2014).
The transparent design of the office and store was entirely intentional. Kaufman says having the retail team in the same space as the production and management teams fosters an organic fluidity of ideas. It also benefits customers; in-store shoppers can see their ear buds being manufactured in 3-D printers and assembled behind a glass wall in the rear of the store.
Kaufman knows how to turn ideas into products. When an idea comes up, she encourages her team to test it, make a swift decision and then move forward. It keeps the iteration process flowing. “We learn from it, we change, we will iterate,” she says. Kaufman do not like to just wait around without doing anything. She will make decision right away if there are good ideas. From this situation, we can conclude that she is really decisive person. Being decisive doesn’t mean that decision always right, but at least we tried and doing our best for it. Even though, we failed, we can learn from it and make improvements (Catherine Clifford, 2014).

5.0          Time Competence
According Kamus Dewan punctuality is an agreement (oral or written) to carry out or to give something. In short we can say that timeliness is a treatment that characterizes an individual always doing something responsibilities or duties in accordance with a predetermined time or agreed orally or in written (Lanting anak rajam, 2010).
Thus, timely can also be characterized as an act or behaviour which include keeping promise, manage time, use time and the timetable in the planning of daily activities and then act with effective (Lanting anak rajam, 2010). First, the characteristics of punctual based on the point that we always promise with a person, group, society, organization and so on.
Manage time are factor most important in characterized time competence because good manage time will be a good person directly. After that, right manage time get discipline person or individual in work and need time quality of daily will be more systematic (Lanting anak rajam, 2010).
For example YBhg. Dato ' Hj Ameer Ali Bin Mydin is the Managing Director of Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd.Transformers build business because of the nature of firmness and nature -conscious times either with co- workers or family. He very strict in time competence while work or spend time for family. He will separate time for working and private business (According Hasbullah Ishak, 2013).
Dato' Hj Ameer Ali described this success with leadership characteristics such as punctuality, discipline, simplicity and so on. “If you arrive on time you pass by!” This motto has been practiced among workers and their families (According Hasbullah Ishak, 2013).
As you can see, Dato’ Hj Ameer Ali also practice time competence to workers for manage time and keeping promise to customer or client. Not easy for success if there is no discipline, responsible, commitment and so on in implement tasks. As a conclusion time competence are moral values or one of traits to entrepreneur for moved (Hasbullah Ishak, 2013).

A person who want to become an entrepreneur, they need to have some characteristics in themself. One of the traits or characteristic that should have in entrepreneur is perceptiveness. Perceptiveness is define as someone who is perceptive notices things quickly and understands situations. Besides that, perceive also means "to see". A perceptive person is good at gathering information and using her senses to take in the world. In this case, if you are upset but trying to hide it, a perceptive person is the one who will notice.
The more perceptive person is identified as a leader. Entrepreneur is a leader who are responsible to lead and manage their operation. As a leaders, they should not afraid of change. They surround themselves with visionary personnel. In addition, they enable and empower others. Besides that, their strength is the ability to align resources, create transparency through performance metrics and ability to move outside of their technical areas to solve problems. A leader need to see things from 30K feet. They cannot afford to direct and control others to do the work. However, they identify experts and turn over the work to experts.
